Welcome! My name is Alicia, and I have lived in East Alabama my entire life! Growing up enjoying the waters of beautiful Lake Martin, working alongside my family on my grandparents farm, exploring the woods and waters hunting, fishing, rock hounding, enjoying the culture, history, and arts has allowed me to have a uniquely well rounded perspective that I am thrilled to introduce you or the buyers of your property to. I look forward to providing any help or act of service I can to assist you in selling your home, your search for a new home, lot, or land from an initial random question to closing day! However, to me it is not just about real estate for sale; Alabama is a unique and beautiful place that I could not be prouder to call home. The real estate business is my passion, and I love nothing more than developing deep friendships with my clients. It is my pleasure to assist with contacts and resources for each step of their individual process, knowledge about the area(s) and market, and providing a great time while providing you a fun and seamless experience throughout the process of acting as your Realtor. While I enjoy traveling, my true passion is sharing my favorite place with my clients, keeping up to date on information about Alabama's many unique areas including Lake Martin real estate, as well as issues on a local, state, and national level that affect the area. I am an investor as well as an agent, and utilize a strong background in marketing and advertising; having previously worked in the industry for 10 years. I believe these skills in combination with expertise as an agent are beneficial to my ability to represent my clients, going above and beyond in every step of the buying and selling process. When I am not working, I enjoy being mom to my daughter, Dianna, maltipoo Mr. Buddy, and bulldog Pig. Faith and family is my driving force. Now, how may I help you?
Lake Martin was created in 1926 by the completion of Martin Dam at Cherokee Bluffs on the Tallapoosa River. The dam and therefore the lake was named in honor of Thomas Martin, president of Alabama Power from 1920 to 1949, and CEO from 1949 to 1963. Two towns were included in the 41,000 acres that was flooded to form the lake; Benson and Susannah. There are many urban legends about Lake Martin; from underwater sounds of baying coon dogs whose owner died depending on a false promise from his wife to move his prize hounds' graves before the flooding of the lake, to the tolling of a church bell from one of the buildings covered by the clean fresh waters. The Lake Martin lifestyle is no urban legend, however. The laid back atmosphere includes Goat Island; an island that is seasonally home to goats that roam freely for lakegoers to visit, Acapulco Rock (often incorrectly referred to as Chimney Rock, which is located nearby) which is known for its rock ledges that rise high above the peaceful waters and attract daredevils who leap from the heights into the water below, to many locations of restaurants and local haunts.
Alabama is not just the jewel of the South, it is the unofficial "gold state". There are 812 mines in the State of Alabama; producing everything from platinum, emeralds, and gold to coal, graphite, copper, and much more! What stands out in the mining industry future for Alabama however, is the gold. Before the 49ers flocked to California, Goldville and several other cities in Alabama were booming from the abundance of gold found in deposits throughout East Alabama. Improved efficiency in mining processes has restarted mining in full force on what is estimated to be one of the largest cashes of gold on Earth!
The rich history of the state is not only in treasure, but in people steeped in a "sweet tea" culture. Often considered one of the friendliest places in the U.S., Alabama's people are welcoming to all! A move to Alabama is never a bad idea if you want to feel right at home immediately!
